It’s in the last week that EPRDF instigated an other round of clashes between the Oromo civilians in West Oromia and TPLF armed Beneshangul Gumuz up on which over 40 Oromos lost their lives and many more injured . In the previous incident over 400 Oromo farmers were massacred when they were caught off guard and raided by armed Beneshangul Gumuz at night.Their homes and properties were relentlessly burnt down and their necks and limbs were hacked. This time it seems the dictatorial regime in Finfine seems to have determined to keep on ethnic cleansing by arming Oromos’ neighbors and instigating clashes to retaliate the Oromo for the continuous and escalating struggle for independence.
TPLF has enjoyed such crimes unchecked for decades by instigating clashes between the Oromo and the Somalis in the east & in the south, with Gebra and Konso in the south and with Gumuz in the west. In all these incidents the affected Oromos have complained that the Ethiopian government armed those who share border with Oromia or often disguised as the neighbors and fired on innocent civilians.
It’s also in the last week that we witnessed the killing of 5 Oromos and injury of many others at a religious gathering in Asasa,Arsi, Oromia. In this case, the TPLF killing squads flagrantly shot and killed innocent civilians. This particular incident happened few days after Prime Minister Meles Zenawi accused of Muslims in this area as Al-Qayida agents on his party’s parliament. The Muslims in the country have accused the ruling party of trying to indoctrinate them with Ahbash sect and demonstrated in the capital. The Asasa incident is also related with similar resistance to indoctrination but the death squad responded with brutal killing of Oromo civilians. The fact that it did not fire on the demonstration in the capital whiling killing many in Asasa can be explained by the regimes discrimination against Oromos.
This killings that is going on in Oromia seems to have united the nation’s different communities and might further escalate the struggle of the nation and hasten the demise of the regime.
